Jarand Rystad - Managing Partner and CEO
Jarand founded Rystad Energy in 2004 and is managing the company. Jarand has extensive experience in oil and gas strategy advisory work from McKinsey and Rystad Energy. He has led a number of strategy projects for international oil and gas companies and oilfield service companies. He has also worked with governments and international organizations on topics related to the global energy agenda, and he is advising investors on deal screening, transactions and portfolio management. He is among the most cited petroleum analysts in the industry and been the keynote speaker on numerous international conferences. His areas of expertise include E&P strategy, asset and company transactions, macro analysis and oil service industry analysis. Jarand has also worked for Kvaerner Engineering and as a research scientist within Industrial Economics, gaining wide expertise in statistics and programming. Jarand holds a M.Sc. degree in Physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he majored with a thesis on astroseismology. He also has an academic background in philosophy, and has been the leader and founder of various organizations.
Per Magnus Nysveen – Senior Partner & Head of Analysis
Per Magnus Nysveen joined Rystad Energy from its founding in 2004 and is in charge of the analyst team. He has broad experience within upstream valuation, cost modelling and oil macro analyses. He has particular expertise in unconventional activities and is in charge of the North American Shale Analysis. Prior to joining Rystad Energy, Per Magnus had 15 years of international experience within technology, risk management and venture business, primarily from DNV GL and the CNES space center of France. He holds a M.Sc. degree from NTNU Trondheim and IFP Paris, and a MBA from INSEAD Fontainebleau.
Arne Gulbrandsen – Senior Partner & Head of Global Sales
Arne Gulbrandsen joined the company in 2006 and has more than 20 years of experience from the oil and gas industry. He is responsible for the global sales and marketing activities within Rystad Energy through the company’s network of international sales and support offices. Prior to joining Rystad Energy, Arne worked within oilfield services with a focus on reservoir software and services. Past companies include Roxar (now Emerson) and SPT Group, with extensive experience ranging from reservoir modelling, subsurface software development, sales and marketing, and management. Before his current role at Rystad Energy, Arne worked in the company’s consulting group on projects within E&P, oilfield services, and M&A. Arne holds a M.Sc. degree in Engineering Geology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and a MBA from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration.
Erik Wold – Senior Partner & Head of Technology
Erik Wold joined Rystad Energy in 2006 with 20 years of experience from scientific and technological research and development in materials science, ICT, data analysis, and sensor development. With 10 years of experience at SINTEF as Senior Scientist and Research Director, Erik hast contributed to the development of new and industrially leading tools and products and has assisted client companies in developing and fulfilling their technology and product development strategies. Erik is now in charge of the technology development at Rystad Energy. He has participated and led a number of consulting projects, of which the majority have been technology related or modelling intensive. Examples are market forecasts for existing and new products and services, due diligence, market and aftermarket strategies, and entry strategies. Projects also include system deliveries based on Rystad Energy’s proprietary technology platform. Erik holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Lars Eirik Nicolaisen - Partner and Deputy CEO
Lars Eirik Nicolaisen has been with Rystad Energy since 2008. His areas of experience include rig supply and demand analysis, well technologies and exploration performance analysis. Lars Eirik has been managing the development of RigCube. He has been key speaker at conferences on a variety of topics spanning from rig market analysis and investment forecasts for Norway to oil service opportunities in Northern Norway. Lars Eirik was also a member of the Rystad Energy winning team at the ONS’ “Young Professional Company Award“ in 2010. In addition, Lars Eirik has been a core member of the team behind the NCS Business Development Atlas.
Audun Martinsen - Partner and Head of Oilfield Service Research
Audun started at Rystad Energy in 2011. He is currently leading the Oilfield Service team and Product Manager of Rystad Energys oilfield service databases DCube and SCube. Audun earned a Masters degree in Marine Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and University of Berkeley, California, and an Executive Master of Management Program within finance from BI. His previous work experience includes Coriolis, Shell and BW Offshore.
Bielenis Villanueva Triana - Senior Analyst, North American Shale Team Leader
Bielenis is a Senior Analyst with focus on shale asset valuation. She is also project manager for North American Shale, with five years of experience in forecasting production, reserves and economics of shale assets globally. Bielenis holds a M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, USA, which included two years of experience in simulation of reservoir performance.
