Jarand Rystad - Managing Partner

Jarand founded Rystad Energy in 2004 and is managing the company. Jarand has extensive experience in oil and gas strategy advisory work from McKinsey and Rystad Energy. He has led a number of strategy projects for international oil and gas companies and oilfield service companies. He has also worked with governments and international organizations on topics related to the global energy agenda, and he is advising investors on deal screening, transactions and portfolio management. He is among the most cited petroleum analysts in the industry and been the keynote speaker on numerous international conferences. His areas of expertise include E&P strategy, asset and company transactions, macro analysis and oil service industry analysis. Jarand has also worked for Kvaerner Engineering and as a research scientist within Industrial Economics, gaining wide expertise in statistics and programming. Jarand holds a M.Sc. degree in Physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he majored with a thesis on astroseismology. He also has an academic background in philosophy, and has been the leader and founder of various organizations.

Per Magnus Nysveen

Per Magnus Nysveen joined Rystad Energy from its founding in 2004 and is in charge of the analyst team. He has broad experience within upstream valuation, cost modelling and oil macro analyses. He has particular expertise in unconventional activities and is in charge of the North American Shale Analysis. Prior to joining Rystad Energy, Per Magnus had 15 years of international experience within technology, risk management and venture business, primarily from DNV GL and the CNES space center of France. He holds a M.Sc. degree from NTNU Trondheim and IFP Paris, and a MBA from INSEAD Fontainebleau.

Nick Livingstone - Head of Americas

Nick Livingstone joined Rystad in 2017 and is responsible for the overall business across the Americas. Nick has 20 years of experience in the oil and gas sector working in London and Houston across product development, analyst, business development and leadership roles. Prior to joining Rystad, Nick spent 13 years with Wood Mackenzie where he was SVP, Sales & Marketing responsible for expanding the company’s regional presence and revenues. He has worked with oil companies, NOCs, financial institutions and utilities all over the world and is now based in Houston. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham.

Guest Panel Member - Jason Pitcher - Director of Technology, Safoco Inc.

Jason Pitcher is the Director of Technology for Safoco Inc, an international supplier of oilfield equipment, based in Houston, Texas. He received his bachelors of Science degree in Geology from the University of Derby and his masters of Science degree in Mineral Exploration from Imperial College in London. Jason has over 25 years of experience in oil and gas assets, having worked in multiple areas of drilling, completion and production solutions delivery. He has extensive experience in developing and delivering technology in the upstream oil and gas industry and has co-authored over 30 papers and articles on LWD tools, petrophysics, applications, and in recent years, unconventional reservoir exploration and exploitation.

Guest Panel Member - Anupam Singh - Investment Principal, SAEV

Anupam Singh is an Investment Principal at Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures (SAEV), the corporate Venture Capital arm of Saudi Aramco. SAEV makes minority equity investments of up to $30M in energy companies with differentiated technologies, of strategic relevance to Aramco. SAEV has a broad investment mandate covering upstream, midstream, downstream oil & gas, as well as alternative energy and software. Prior to SAEV, he worked in energy Private Equity where he invested in upstream service and technology companies in US and Europe. He has a Masters in engineering and an MBA from MIT Sloan.

Kjetil Solbrække - SVP South America & Head of Rio

Kjetil first arrived in South America after being responsible for the acquisition of Peregrino field in Brazil in November 2005, and since then he has lived most the time in Rio de Janeiro. In Brazil, he held several management positions, including CEO for Panoro Energy and general manager for Norsk Hydro. Before he moved to Rio de Janeiro, he worked at Norsk Hydro in Oslo as CFO and SVP for International Business Development for 10 years. Kjetil started his career at the Ministry of Petroleum in Norway as an economist from the University of Oslo.

Audun Martinsen - VP Oilfield Service Research

Audun started at Rystad Energy in 2011. He is currently leading the Oilfield Service team and Product Manager of Rystad Energys oilfield service databases DCube and SCube. Audun earned a Masters degree in Marine Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and University of Berkeley, California, and an Executive Master of Management Program within finance from BI. His previous work experience includes Coriolis, Shell and BW Offshore.

Oddmund Føre - Senior Analyst

Oddmund Føre is a Senior Analyst within Rystad’s oilfield services and offshore E&P spending division. His primary focus is on the analysis of the global offshore drilling market as well as the production and spending on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. He is also the product manager for RigCube, Rystad Energy’s rig demand & supply database covering all moveable rig activity for floaters and jackups globally. Oddmund holds a master’s degree in Financial Economics from the Norwegian Business School and a bachelor’s degree from the Naval Academy.

Nadia Martin Wiggen, VP Oil Markets

Nadia Martin Wiggen is Vice President of the markets team at Rystad Energy and co-author of the monthly Global Oil Market Trends Report. She has 10 years of experience in commodity markets analysis (spanning oil liquids, gas, power, coal, renewables, agriculture, metals and freight) and trading from Morgan Stanley and Phibro. She holds an MSc degree from the Stockholm School of Economics and a BSc from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Sonia Mlada - Senior Analyst

Sonia Mlada is a Senior Analyst at Rystad Energy with a focus on North American Shale. She is the project manager for the monthly North American Shale Report, published by Rystad Energy. Sonia is also responsible for analyzing the global discoveries and estimating the recoverable resources. She holds a degree from the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia, including a graduate exchange program at Universidad de Granada, Spain.

Sindre Knutsson - Senior Analyst

Sindre Knutsson is a Senior Analyst in Rystad Energy’s markets team with focus on global natural gas and LNG. He is the responsible for the development of Rystad Energy’s Gas Solutions service providing data and analyses on global natural gas markets and fundamentals. Sindre holds a Bachelors degree from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and a Master’s degree from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prior to joining Rystad Energy, Sindre has four years of experience from the Norwegian Armed Forces working with Electronic Warfare and Intelligence.

Nils-Henrik Bjurstrøm - Product Portfolio Manager

Nils-Henrik Bjurstrøm is a Product Portfolio Manager at Rystad Energy with overall responsibility for management of Rystad Energy’s commercial products. He is also managing Rystad Energy’s exploration analysis team and is the Product Manager for the ECube product. He has also been a Senior Project Manager within Rystad Energy consulting for three years. His previous field of experience includes strategic product management, business development, general management within software development, project management and software engineering. He previously worked at Roxar Software Solutions as a manager of software products within petroleum geology, geophysics and reservoir engineering. He holds an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from NTNU, Norway, and an Executive MBA in Strategic Management from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).

Artem Abramov - VP Analysis

Artem is a Vice President of Analysis at Rystad Energy with main responsibilities in analyzing upstream E&P data from governmental sources along with empirical research of well production profiles. Artem is the product manager for the NASWellCube, Rystad Energy’s NAM Shale well database. He holds an M.Sc. in Financial Economics from BI Norwegian Business School and a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics with the Major in Statistics from the Novosibirsk State University, Russia.

Amir Zaman - BD Manager

Amir Zaman is a Business Development Manager in Rystad Energy’s Houston office focused primarily on the financial sector but also working with oilfield service and E&P companies. Amir holds a MBA from Indiana University, a BBA in International Management from Pace University and is nearing completion of an MS in Strategic Management from Indiana University. Amir has spent the last 13 years in the energy sector, including both upstream and renewables, holding various strategic and business development roles.

Courtney Sims - Senior Client Analyst

Courtney Sims joined Rystad Energy in April 2014 as the Senior Client Analyst for the Americas and now serves in the same role for the EMEA Region. Prior to Rystad, Courtney spent five years in the oilfield services sector focused on market assessment and analysis. With this experience on the client side, Courtney is able to effectively assist clients as they conduct the analysis that she once did herself. Now, Courtney ‘s expertise is providing training and support for a wide-range of clients including E&P, Oilfield Services, Investment Banks, and other Management Consulting firms. Her experience at Rystad Energy and with these clients has enabled her to speak to and assist in thoughtful analysis for many different sectors within the oil and gas space. Courtney holds a MBA in Finance and Management from Tulane University, USA and a BBA in Economics from Baylor University, USA. Courtney enjoys being the “go to” person for her clients and providing the best and most relevant support she can.
