Speakers

Jarand Rystad — Managing Partner and CEO

Jarand founded Rystad Energy in 2004 and is managing the company. Jarand has extensive experience in oil and gas strategy advisory work from McKinsey and Rystad Energy. He has led a number of strategy projects for international oil and gas companies and oilfield service companies. He has also worked with governments and international organizations on topics related to the global energy agenda, and he is advising investors on deal screening, transactions and portfolio management. He is among the most cited petroleum analysts in the industry and been the keynote speaker on numerous international conferences. His areas of expertise include E&P strategy, asset and company transactions, macro analysis and oil service industry analysis. Jarand has also worked for Kvaerner Engineering and as a research scientist within Industrial Economics, gaining wide expertise in statistics and programming. Jarand holds a M.Sc. degree in Physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he majored with a thesis on astroseismology. He also has an academic background in philosophy, and has been the leader and founder of various organizations.

Nick Livingstone — Head of Americas

Nick joined Rystad in 2017 and is responsible for the overall business across the Americas. Nick has 20 years of experience in the oil and gas sector working in London and Houston across product development, analyst, business development and leadership roles. Prior to joining Rystad, Nick spent 13 years with Wood Mackenzie where he was SVP, Sales & Marketing responsible for expanding the company’s regional presence and revenues. He has worked with oil companies, NOCs, financial institutions and utilities all over the world and is now based in Houston. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham.

Bjørnar Tonhaugen — Partner and Head of Oil Market Research

Bjørnar is the Head of Oil Markets Research at Rystad Energy and co-manages the Markets Team. He is the company’s macro expert in oil markets with responsibilities spanning full oil coverage. He also works with the Upstream Research team to develop production forecasts and is involved in consulting projects. He holds a B.S.c. in Mechanical Engineering from the Oslo University College and an M.S. degree in Industrial Economics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Carlos Torres Diaz — Head of Gas Market and Renewables Research

Carlos is the Vice President of Gas and Renewables Markets Research at Rystad Energy. He and his team develop the gas and renewables coverage for the company and he frequently participates in related consulting work. Carlos holds a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana, an M.S.c. in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the University of Sheffield and an MBA from the University of Oxford.

Artem Abramov — Partner and Head of Shale Research

Artem is the Head of Shale Research at Rystad Energy with main responsibilities in analyzing upstream E&P data from governmental sources along with empirical research of well production profiles. Artem is the product manager for the NASWellCube, Rystad Energy’s North America Shale well database. He holds an M.Sc. in Financial Economics from BI Norwegian Business School and a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics with the Major in Statistics from the Novosibirsk State University, Russia.

Matthew Fitzsimmons — Vice President, Oilfield Service Research

Matthew Fitzsimmons is Vice President for Cost Analysis at Rystad Energy in the Oilfield Service Department. He heads the Rystad Energy Services Price Index and Rystad Energy’s Oilfield Services Analytics products. Prior to joining Rystad Energy, Matt spent nearly eight years at ExxonMobil evaluating and managing cost analysis projects around the world. He holds a Bachelor’s of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology (USA) and an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Global Markets from BI Norwegian Business School.

Andrew Shepard — Senior Consultant

Andrew Shepard is a Senior Consultant at Rystad Energy. Andrew supports clients on bespoke engagements from strategic planning to investment decision support, and brings experience in North American pipeline, and terminal and refinery transaction due diligence. Andrew holds Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Texas State University.

Alisa Lukash — Senior Analyst

Alisa is a Senior Analyst on Rystad Energy’s shale research team responsible for the financial analysis of US shale E&Ps, asset sale modeling and company research. Prior to joining Rystad Energy, she worked as a market data consultant covering the global Investment Banks in London. She holds a B.A. in International Economics from Taras Shevchenko National University in Kiev and an M.S. in Finance from Hult International Business School in London.

Tim Bjerkelund — Head of New York Consulting

Tim Bjerkelund is Head of New York Consulting for New York. He has been involved in a variety of market assessments and strategy development projects for energy and service companies. His key areas of focus include macro oil, oil services, natural gas markets and renewables. Tim holds his Master’s in Engineering from NTNU.

Ryan Carbrey — Senior Vice President, Shale Research

Ryan is the Senior Vice President leading the Shale Intel research team at Rystad Energy. He is responsible for overseeing the research covering North American shale, unconventional product development and related work in the consulting space. He holds a B.S.c. in Economics from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Rice University.

Thomas Jacob — Senior Analyst

Thomas is a Senior Analyst and contributes to Rystad Energy’s Shale Intel solution. Thomas has expertise and experience in North America unconventional oil and gas, market research/intelligence, strategy consulting and advisory services. As the lead analyst for the proppant market coverage in North America, he plays a major role covering the pressure pumping, oilfield water management and stimulation chemicals markets. He holds an M.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from VIT University in India.

Jon Marsh Deusund — Head of Houston Consulting

Jon Marsh is a Partner and Head of Rystad Energy’s Houston consulting practice. Jon is responsible for leading consulting projects out of Houston and has been with Rystad Energy for more than nine years. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial Economics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Aditya Ravi — Senior Analyst

Aditya is a Senior Analyst on the Global E&P team at Rystad Energy responsible for Latin America E&P operations coverage and the analysis of global oil and gas fiscal regimes. He holds a Bachelors in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Pune in Maharashtra, India.

Jai Singh — Principal Consultant

Jai Singh is a Principal Consultant at Rystad Energy and is responsible for executing consulting projects for clients in the Americas. Jai holds a BA in Economics from Brown University and an MBA from Columbia University.

Lars Eirik Nicolaisen — Deputy CEO and Senior Partner

Lars Eirik Nicolaisen has been with Rystad Energy since 2008. His areas of experience include rig supply and demand analysis, well technologies and exploration performance analysis. Lars Eirik has been managing the development of RigCube. He has been key speaker at conferences on a variety of topics spanning from rig market analysis and investment forecasts for Norway to oil service opportunities in Northern Norway. Lars Eirik was also a member of the Rystad Energy winning team at the ONS’ “Young Professional Company Award“ in 2010. In addition, Lars Eirik has been a core member of the team behind the NCS Business Development Atlas.

Henning Bjørvik — Senior Analyst, Oilfield Service Research

Henning is a Senior Analyst with Rystad Energy’s Oilfield Service research team with a focus on subsea, offshore field development as well as operations and life extension for existing offshore assets. He has experience from an E&P and the oilfield service background and has spent many years working as an engineer both onshore and offshore. Henning holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and an MSc in Marine Technology, both from NTNU.
